For a Southern Jewish belle who was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Micki Moore has certainly become a name familiar to millions of Canadians. An actress, comedienne and writer, she keeps adding yet another notch to her professional belt as the years go by. At present, 2009, she is learning the art of animated cartoon voices. And in another few years she will probably have added another facet to her career.
One thing about Micki (born Miriam) Moore that is certain: she never gives up on career or life. Whatever she does she does to the fullest. A very animated lady, she obviously loves life and enjoys people, something that is evident from the first 'hello.'
Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts
Moore graduated from Ohio State University where she majored in Radio and Television Arts, and later studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England and at the Actor's Studio. After many years as a voice-over for commercials, she decided that she wanted to have her own TV show.
Micki made the rounds of all the studios with her audition tape clutched in her hands, but the results were less than exciting. This lasted for a year and anyone else would have thrown in the towel, but not Micki Moore. Just at that time a Toronto station, City TV, was considering an afternoon talk show, and they remembered the gal who showed up with her tape. The rest is history.
City-TV's You're Beautiful
Micki Moore was on her way with the show, You're Beautiful, which lasted for several years and made her a star. The show was geared to women...all women, and it set out to show women that they were able and strong and anything was possible. People still talk wistfully about the show.

Family Life
These days Micki and her second husband Leonard spend their time between Florida and their condominium in Toronto. ( She was married the first time at 19, and had two children).They met through the show You're Beautiful and were married in Nice, France.Between them they have an extended family (children and grandchildren) of 22. In 2008 they took the whole family on a trip to Spain and Micki says they had a “terrific time.”
Award Winner
A winner of a Clio award for a Toyota commercial, Moore has always been interested in improvisation and takes classes at the Bad Dog Theatre in Toronto .As she says, in this area there is no preparation and no homework, you just get out there and do it. A perfect vehicle for a woman who loves a challenge.Moore also does media coaching for authors, business people and CEOs.
Micki's recipe for success: “Create an idea and put yourself in it.” She should know...she has been creating ideas since she was a little Southern girl with an ambition to do something special in life.
