CTV's Kitchener, Ontario, station "is a wonderful place at which to work" according to Christie. "It's like family and I feel so at home here," he declares.

For a boy born in Brantford, Ontario, in 1976, it was like coming home for Kyle Christie when he was taken aboard CTV's Kitchener station as news anchor. "I had watched this TV station for years as a child and a teen, and loved all the shows like Romper Room, with Betty Thompson. Although at one time I did want to become an astronaut, being associated with TV and film is a dream come true."

Education

Christie gives his mother all the credit for his career in television news. "She worked three jobs to ensure that my sisters (now both teachers) and I would have a quality education. She is a wonderful woman and any success I may have I owe to her."

After elementary school in Brantford, Kyle attended two high schools there...St.John's College and Assumption College. While still in high school he took a trip to British Columbia to visit relatives and fell in love with the terrain. After graduating from high school he enrolled at the University of Victoria, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in art history and a minor in film.

Talent Agent

Returning to Ontario after university, Kyle became a talent agent for film and TV in Toronto..."one of the hardest jobs I have ever done." With a data base of 1,000 actors, Christie needed to carry a pager with him twenty-four hours a day and would often be called in the middle of the night to provide several actors for a film or TV show in production. In spite of the hard work and crazy hours he enjoyed working in film. For some time he had also dreamed of being associated with a great movie that would win an important Academy Award, and that wish was fulfilled when he worked on the movie "Chicago."

Awards and Achievements

Christie attended Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, in the early 2000's for post graduate work in their journalism program, and was awarded the silver medal for highest academic achievement from the Board of Governors of the school. Often asked who received the gold medal, he had to explain that there was only a silver medal given. While at Sheridan Kyle interned at Global News in Toronto on their morning show.

Career Aspirations

Christie was hired at CTV Kitchener as a part-time videographer for six weeks, but he stayed well beyond that, and as time passed he began working more in the news room until one day the male anchor for the news show was unable to make it to the studio. Kyle said he could do it, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Kyle Christie is passionate about his work at the Kitchener studio, and would like to expand his role there to include more special assignments and feature stories. Before going on air he thinks about the people who are watching and tries to deliver the news to the viewers with sincerity and integrity. He co-anchors the Noon News with Nancy Richards, and is the sole anchor of the Nightly News at Six.

Each year Christie produces a video which features different events that have occurred throughout the year. He creates and edits, adds music and in effect tells a story in each video. This is his gift to the family that means so much to him.

Kyle was married to the beautiful Leslie Gordon, another CTV personality, in romantic Italy on May 30, 2008 and says his true aspiration is to be successful in his personal relationships: marriage, family and friends.

Christie is certainly successful in his TV career, where the combination of boyish charm, sincerity and a touch of class mean so much to viewers who will continue to invite him into their living rooms for years to come.
